The problem

A −22 °C store where every cart movement between the picking zone and the dock meant a forklift and a driver in the cold for the whole shift.

Staff retention in the freezer was the site’s biggest cost.

Cut forklift movements by 31% and took the driver out of the freezer.

What Ridge does

Two Ridge units tow carts of totes between zones on a fixed loop, coupled and uncoupled at either end by the pick teams.

Both units are rated to −25 °C and hot-swap batteries at the dock end of every loop.

In their words

“We stopped putting people in the freezer for a full shift. That was the point.”
